Novalys and TaT came to know each other through an inquiry TaT had addressed to the partner finding service of the German National Support Office ADAPT in October 1997.

The office sent back some proposals and contact addresses, among others from novalys, Paris. TaT contacted novalys directly by fax.

After having exchanged project information, novalys and TaT came to the conclusion that the topics of their national ADAPT project fit together. The first bilateral meeting took place in December 1997.

COP and TaT came to know each other more randomly. When looking for transnational ADAPT partners an acquaintance from Germany gave TaT the address of a contact person situated in the Finnish Ministry of Education.

TaT contacted this person by sending information about their national ADAPT project. The responsible ADAPT coordinator from the ministry forwarded this information to COP and sent contact information to TaT.

Based on this TaT contacted COP directly (October 03, 1997) and COP sent back detailed information about their national ADAPT project. Letters of intend for the transnational cooperation were signed at October 10, 1997. The first bilateral meeting took place in February 1998.

On the suggestion of TaT the new partners decided to build up a joint transnational cooperation and agreed to VITE as its name. The Transnational Cooperation Document was finally signed in January 1998.

VITE as abbreviation for "Vocational Development and Reorganisation by Using Information Technology in between the European Textile Sector" is not merely artificial - the name is also meant to reflect a core challenge for the Textile and Clothing branch: the speeding up of the fashion and as a consequence of this of the business carousel.
